I haven’t been to a yoga class before where the instructor (Jess Campbell) has been so supportive, caring and humorous. This might be down to the fact that at LLiV their teachers are trained in-house. So you know what you’re getting each time, regardless of who is teaching. But I think it’s more the fact that the teachers are encouraged to bring their own personalities to each class. So you get a little bit of them in every flow.
We started with a gentle routine, designed to open our hip flexors, relax our bodies and close off our minds. Rather than a warm-up, it felt like a warm-in and gently eased us into the start of the practice, marked nicely by three ‘ummmms‘.
The rest of the practice focused on doing basic movements correctly, within our own abilities. To emphasise the fact the practice was our own, we moved through a whole flow with our eyes shut – letting our bodies guide us, without fear that we didn’t look exactly like our neighbour. It was so refreshing and helped me actually ‘switch off‘ and just focus on me.
So if you want to be able to actually relax, and advance your yoga practice with some of the best yoga instructors I have ever come across, then LLiV might just be the place for you.
Plus their rooms aren’t too hot, so you can actually breathe.
