Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

DAY 68

4.2 Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alongside fencing, this is up there as one of the most memorable days of GoSweat365Martial arts is always something I was interested in trying it out but had never just gone and done it.

Walking in as a complete novice we were taken in with open arms, with Lorenzo, head coach and owner of Wave BJJ, spending the majority of time showing us the basics. These basics included the GuardEscapes and Mounts. It gave a new found appreciation of the speed and power this sport demands. Brute strength could hold of certain attacks, and before I even realised it I was pinned to the floor, face often eating the mat.

Had we been going full throttle with the sparring, this would have been a very sweaty affair, and the other class members were all dripping. Not a sport for those squeamish of people invading their personal space, as some of the positions you end up in can look a little raunchy, but great fun none the less.Go on, just give it a go!

Alex is a Cheerleader, not literally pompom wheelding (unfortunately), but he does install enthusiasm and drive performance, and has been known to do the occasional jig.
